We are delighted to return to Saltford Hall, on Saturday 28th June. This will be a wonderful concert, in aid jointly of the SCA and the Firefighters Charity.
For this year’s summer concert, and with a nod towards the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the band will be playing a selection of music from UK and US composers. From Colonel Bogey to Gershwin and Lloyd Webber, there will be something for every lover of live music played on acoustic instruments. One piece (the Radio4 UK theme) contains music from across the British Isles (see how many tunes you can spot), and there’s a matching collection of tunes from the US Civil War. Herb Alpert, Jeff Wayne, Vera Lynn are amongst those whose music will feature in the concert.
A reminder to our followers: the band is technically known as a ‘concert wind band’, which means not only brass instruments (trombones, trumpets, tuba) but woodwind and reeds too (clarinets, flutes, oboes, saxophones). The players come from the local (Avon) area, and raise money for the Firefighters Charity across the region.
